I'll try first by compiling with shared objects.

If it works, I'll try to use the (Gentoo) prelink command to get rid of the (incompatible) 3.3 dependency tree.

By the way, Mozilla used to be dog slow on my machine. After prelinking it, its performance is now acceptable; on the condition that you don't use themes.

By the way, I thought compiling GCC from sources was lengthy; just emerge openoffice and compile it from source. It takes forever (more than 20 hours).
