Serialisation bug with abstract classes

Was it broken before you started including your patches? If not, why 
didn't you either commit the whole change when it's ready, or do the 
work in a branch, and then merge it in one go, to avoid this brokenness?

Don't get it wrong, I'm very thankful for your work. I'm just concerned 
about the quality of CVS HEAD. People might need to get gcj from CVS 
because it has an unreleased fix they need badly. If they get news bugs 
because of half-merged changes, it's going to cost the time and lessen 
their confidence in gcj in general.
