GRR!  Apparently, after testing the patch I had for GCC and while
preparing a patch for libtool mainline, I goofed and modified the
buffer in the GCC tree, adding an open paren so that it matched the
code in libtool mainline but failing to close it :-(

Here's a fix.  My apologies.
