C++ to bytecode?

That's a picoJava back end.  I've never looked at picoJava, so I don't
know exactly how it differs from the standard JVM.

I also thought there was an attempt to target a standard JVM.  It was
never integrated into the tree (never really submitted, I think).  I
looked but I don't have a URL any more.
