There are a few win32 (mingw and cygwin) patches
in the mainline and/or the cygwin/mingw branch of 3.2
that haven't gone into the 3.2 branch. It would make
more sense for Ranjit to work with with one of these
brances, rather than 3.2.

How about individual patches (one "logical change" per patch) posted
to java-patches? Then there will be some hope of the fixes getting in
the tree. (If the changes are extensive you'll need to deal with the
paperwork issues...)
