Hello world segfaults with -static

I couldn't immediately see how this could be caused by failing to run
intialization code. But maybe I missed something. The call stack looks
reasonable to me for collector initialization.

Has someone else seen this? I haven't updated my tree recently. But the GC
hasn't changed for a while.
