In that vein, you may find this amusing:

DWARF2 .debug_info includes what are effectively FORTH programs
that are interpreted by the debugger, in order to compute the
run-time locations and values of objects and object fields
and scoping conditions, etc.

Interesting, they are getting into the trunk anyhow:  Most of my
changes have been superceded by independently produced commits,
in the past couple of weeks.
