Sure, it's a matter of conflicting goals. Anybody not using i686-linux these
days is outnumbered by those who are. Arguably, there are more users who will
benefit from the convenience of compressed zipfiles than those who would be
affected by this bug. OTOH, gcj is extremely valuable on platforms that don't
have a viable Java alternative. (I'm fighting hard to stay off that particular
rant now...)
I think it ought to be resolved somehow before the 3.0 branch. FWIW, I just
posted a possible fix.
