Thanks.  I'll keep this around and either implement bits of it or

Mostly it was about speeding the allocation path.  I'll probably
implement these suggestions, but some of them have to wait (e.g.,
changing the compiler to call a different allocator when finalization
is required).

I'm hoping to import a new version of the GC soon, like this week.
Of course this plan isn't completely fixed :-(
