libgcj snapshot build fails

I built with the 1013 gcc, and that's the one that gives the error
mentioned above with the Oct 21+ libgcj snapshots.  The more recent gcc's I
tried (1019, e.g.) splatted core, and I don't have the time to go through
them trying to find one that works.

I can try the 1013 libgcj, maybe, but I thought that wouldn't -O2, which was
the original purpose of this exercise  :-(

Maybe the thing to do is to rebuild 2.95.1, and then do the other suggested
performance experiments (like disabling the array bounds checking and
upping the inital heap size).
