gcj and libgcj for earlier versions of egcs

Hi,

I just joined the mailing list, and would like to ask a few simple
questions:

1. I saw in the mailing list archive that the gcc-2.95.1 java compiler
is not completely working on Solaris when the Sun linker is used.  Has
this been resolved yet?  In other words, is gcc-2.95.1/libgcj-2.95.1 +
Sun's as and ld demostrably "working" on sun-sparc-solaris-5.6?

2. Linux systems (Red Hat 6.0, for example) are still supplying
egcs-2.91 as the system compiler.  Is there are clean way to install
just the gcj+libgcj portion of the gcc-2.95.1 system on top of
egcs-2.91?
