In that case, wouldn't it be far simpler to talk
to Jon Meyer to get Jasmin into Classpath
tools?

IMHO, GCJ should be a Free replacement
SDK for the Java programming language and
the JVM. So "gaj" should be a part of GCJ.

(Take this with the appropriate measure of
NaCl, considering that it comes from a guy
who has not written even one line of code
towards this end.)

Certainly. That would have been my next proposal, were
such an assembler to be implemented by us.
