FYI: I also submitted this to gcc-patches after the fact.

(I had walked away from my computer when Andrew Haley's
voice popped into my head in the same way that Obi-Wan's
voice would pop into Luke Skywalker's head when he said
"Use the force, Luke.", except that Andrew was saying
"You forgot to submit this to gcc-patches!")
