undefined union _Jv_word in Class.h

I am trying to compile a C/Java program  on my RedHat 7.1.  I have gcc
3.0.3 installed alongwith java support.
I am getting a compilation error which points to the header file
/usr/include/java/lang/Class.h.
The union   _Jv_word is not defined in this header file.  Can anyone please
help where can i get the patch for this.
