bootstrap broken w disable-checking

Hi all,

while testing some patches fro Michael M, I noticed that 
disable-checking seems broken on trunk. I saw this on x86_64-freebsd and 
powerpc64-freebsd.

Is this issue already known?
If not, usual bug report with preprocessed source?
