We use the sis/erc32 simulator in gdb.
You have to build binutils, gdb, gcc/newlib, and rtems
to be able to test. I am happy to help you offline
with setting it up. But it is probably quicker for
you to send me a patch and let me push it through
the (smaller than GCC's) RTEMS build farm. :)
