Sure.  The git-svn mirror puts everything under refs/remotes, then the 
git mirror maintainers manually create the equivalent of symbolic links 
under refs/heads for some branches.

I don't know what policy Bernie was using to decide which branches 
should be included; I guess from an earlier mail that he was just 
including all active branches, so I should probably just go ahead and 
add this one too even though I would be inclined toward a different policy.
