There is still one point I don't understand about fixincludes.

Why is it still useful on recent GNU/Linux systems?

 From what I understood, fixinclude role is to correct system includes files w.r.t. GCC compatibility. I would imagine 
that in 2010, the GNU glibc is standards & GCC compliant enough, and that GCC is robust enough, to make that useless.

I do understand in theory the need of fixinclude on non GNU Glibc systems (like proprietary Unixes eg SunOS or HPUX or 
AIX), but I cannot understand its use on GNU systems.

Or perhaps I completely misunderstood the role of fixinclude.
