Well, I'm curious to hear more about that... Why do you think that...
int i;
...
...
for(i = 0; i < n; i++) ..

is better than
for(int i = 0; i < ..) ... ???

I find the second much more compact and readable than the first.

Their value lies (at least for me) in things line
if (foo) // now I'll do...
{

}

and for example
struct foo {
 int myint ; // this int is ...
 double mydouble ; // this double is...
};

in a one line comments, using /* */ is just horrid! :)
