If I've given the impression that this is a "hornet's nest" (at least on
my behalf), that was most definitely not my intention!
Mostly, I just felt that this should be discussed so that there was a
public record of what the intention was, and so that I could feel
confident that my understanding of what it meant was similar to other
people's understanding. And this discussion is happening (mostly has
happened), and questions have been answered, and so far as I can tell
we're all agreed on what the comment is documenting.
I did have some concerns about what the change meant; those have been
entirely addressed by the discussion, and I now completely agree that
documenting this aspect of the process is a good thing.
I think my surprise at the change came across as much more annoyance and
concern than I meant it to; my apologies to you and FX for that.
