Help with openGL

Hey folks, 

I have just downloaded the openGL libs through cygwin/setup.exe
Included in the package are example programs which I would like to get
running before continuing development. I'm no expert with gcc so I gues I'm
probably doingsomething dumbass wrong.
When I run make from within the example progs folder (cygwin on WIN32 by the
way) the build falls over complaining that it cant find the definitions for
the references to the openGL functions, i.e. I dont think it can find the
library.

Any clues?
