Both. (For instance, this option would also cover the case of an exp
() which refuses to return zero.)

I guess another way to put it is that the results may become
increasingly inaccurate for values away from zero or one (or
whatever). (Or they might just be very inaccurate to start with.)

I think they're all covered by (b).
It is intentional that the documentation doesn't specify exactly how
the results differ from IEEE. The idea is that if you need to know
such things, this is not the option for you.
