bootstrap fails for apple-ppc-darwin

...but it occurs to me I didn't install 8A428 until the 28th or 29th 
and haven't rebuilt since,
so if it's a recently introduced cctools problem,  I might not be 
seeing it.  Anybody seeing
this on an old cctools?
