As do I, which can lead to frustration in trying to find the
cause of a program.

Yes, it fixes the gfortran bootstrap problem.  

My apologies for the somewhat negative tone in my email,
but trying to work on gfortran in the last few weeks 
has been quite frustrating.  Unfortunately, I let that
frustration dictate how I composed the email.
