postreload-gcse heuristics broken?

Unfortunately not; this is just one of multiple issues
(and likely one of the smaller ones) contributing to
the big performance degradation I'm seeing on mgrid.

I'll ask our performance team to get numbers for just
postreload-gcse, but that'll take until next week ...
