mainline bootstrap broken on i686-pc-linux-gnu

Hi,

current mainline configured with the following command
$SRCDIR/configure --quiet --prefix=$DESTDIR --enable-languages=c++,fortran --with-gmp=/afs/mpa/data/martin/mygmp

aborts during bootstrap at this place:
