Well a lot of the techniques are taken from SPITBOL, right down to
low level data structures etc. Much of this is documented in the 1977
Software Practice and Experience article (Dewar and McCann).
P.S. It is entertaining that my message drew two replies, one from you
seriously impressed, the other a bit of a yawn, saying that is what you
expect moving from an interpretor to generated code :-) :-) :-)
P.P.S. The class project was never really finished enough to pass on,
but if anyone is interested in these materials, I can dig them up!
