2 x86-64 ABI bugs in gcc 3.3 and 3.4

Yeah, I agree completely, and I do feel rather strongly about that:
we should strive to have the set of gcc releases have monotonic
improvements over release numbers.  It's already a problem having to
make hard choices over supported architectures, speed and whatnot.
If bug-fixes becomes an issue, then it becomes even harder.
