support for omvs

The main reason I would want it is to compile a gnu toolset there - unfortunately,
the c++ compiler doesn't support '.cc' as an extension, and has various shortcomings.
Is there is a patchset for OMVS that makes the gcc toolset compile cleanly
with the native compiler? Or maybe a list of packages which successfully compile
on omvs?

Its really surprising to me that its not being maintained - is there a group 
internal to IBM which supports the omvs port, and if so are they maintaining a 
set of gnu tools?

when you say working, does it support the things I mentioned (ie: mainframe file
format linking, support for ebcdic, etc)?
