Right, and actually the latest port to IA64/VMS has implemented nearly
full Ada including tasking and exception handling, before we're even
close to bootstrapping the C compiler. I agree that reason seems very
weak.

However, I agree that the real issue is wether to take the first step
towards C++ or not, as the consensus is that once we take one step we'll
end up going all the way.
