See revision 1.102 of htdocs/gcc-2.95/regress.html.  (This is indeed a
more than usually obscure location for documentation, and the
documentation only discusses running front end testsuites.)  Nominal
release policy as stated in gcc-3.4/criteria.html is still that the
current testsuite is run against old releases like that when preparing a
release.
