Perhaps there's a concern that it will become an extra imposition on
GCCers.

Another cause for concern that I can see is that unscrupulous people
may try to use the channel in the opposite direction, for instance to
try to order GCCers not to start using tree-ssa unless some little bit
of code works perfectly. Of course we don't have to follow their
orders, but the increase in traffic, responding to semi-informed mail,
etc, will tend to suck up hacking cycles.
