3.4 does not bootstrap on fedora

This has been failing for at least a day.  I configued thus:
/home/bothner/GNU/gcc3.4/configure  --enable-languages=all 
--prefix=/home/bothner/GNU/install-gcc --enable-java-awt=gtk,xlib 
--enable-checking
This is i686-pc-linux-gnu (Fedora Core 1) native.
