Can PR c++/3905 (sizeof on function call in template) be done on 3.2.x?

In case it wasn't clear, I asked for the technical feasibility.  I know 
that 3.2 is closed, and would be happy to maintain a local patch.  And I'm 
not necessarily asking for someone to do this for me, right now I'm really 
more interested to learn about how difficult this would be, for me or for 
someone experienced in the frontend.
