Which part of

The @option{--enable-threads} options isn't supported yet.  A patch is
in preparation for a future release.

in gcc/doc/install.texi in the 3.3 branch isn't clear enough?

The changes to support --enable-threads=posix (and make it the default on
Tru64 UNIX) are in both the 3.4 branch and mainline, but are two invasive
for the 3.3 branch.
