That sounds like a very old version of gcc.
Try using a current version, e.g. gcc-3.3.x or gcc-3.4.x.
http://www.bullfreeware.com/ seems to have gcc-3.3.2 for
free download, so it's at least possible to build it for AIX.
You might even be able to build it yourself.

Your question is very nearly off topic; try posting on gcc-help instead.
