  Heh, thanks for the thought.  I was just attempting to pre-empt any
accusations of being OT, since the initial post really didn't seem all that
relevant.

  You gave me an idea though, which is that maybe there should be an
overnight batch job on the gcc.gnu.org webserver that runs all the web pages
through the validator, and spots any that have broken.  It could even email
whoever last patched that page in the cvs, kind of like the way the
auto-regression-tester does/did.  (Dunno if that ever got put back online
yet).

  Unfortunately, my having had such an idea does not constitute an offer to
implement it (nor indeed does it in any way mean that I have the time to do
so), which is why I'm just throwing it back at the list for general
consumption.  Some people feel that it's a pointless thing to do if you
aren't going to implement something yourself, but I've always felt that if
I've had a good idea and I'm not going to act on it I may as well give it
away rather than horde it to myself :)
