GCC 4.0 vs. 3.5

Yes, it might.

In my mind, we really need to see a comprehensive analysis that 
demonstrates a win.  Every release has *some* dramatic improvement on 
some code.

I'm not a disbeliever -- I  just think the jury is still out.
