Basically.  :-)  This is called "code cleanup" -- removing stuff which
nobody is actually using.  As I said, it's causing other little bugs,
and it would be easier to fix them if I ripped it out.

I do know sort of what it does; it stores GCC configuration information
in the Win32 registry and retrieves it from there.  But if nobody is
using it... :-P
