Help with gmp-4.0.1 and gcc-3.3.1 on sparcv9?

My profuse apologies for wasting your time---for some strange reason, I 
did not download the latest version of gmp from ftp.gnu.org; these 
issues are corrected in the latest version of gmp (4.1.2).

But the tree-ssa C compiler still does not bootstrap properly on 
sparcv9-sun-solaris2.8, so this is somewhat moot.
