cannot make gcc 3.3

Hi, i'm a student from The Netherlands and i'm trying to install gcc-3.3
My OS is Redhat. I'm an total amateur with Linux. I get the following
errors at the end of the make-process. I have absolutely no idea what
these errors mean...

fatal error: file gnat1drv.ali is incorrectly formatted
make sure you are using consistent versions of gcc/gnatbind

make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/gcc-3.3/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2

This is what i did:
        1. downloaded gcc-3.3.tar.gz
        2. unpacked with: 'tar xzf gcc-3.3.tar.gz'
        3. cd to gcc-3.3
        4. command './configure'
        5. command 'make'
Are these commands ok or should i take some additional steps? Please let
me know...i'm getting desperate here ;)
