Interleaving pthread_cleanups in C and C++

I'm not sure if I count as a C++ person, but I don't agree with (1).

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "forced unwinding".
But I think C++ exception handlers should not be allowed to
swallow pthread cancellation exceptions.
