ARC maintainer was Re: Proposed targets to deprecate (sigh)

Hi Joel Hi Nathanael,
Joel thanks for speaking up for me. I just filled out my GNU paper work
yesterday. We are extremely interested in keeping the ARC stuff alive. And
as you say I am willing to maintain it.

I am planning to post up some of Peter Target's unintegrated(2001) fixes
with some tweaks very soon. This will allow GCC 3.x for the ARC to build
correctly at least for C. I am currently using these patches on 3.2.3 with
an ARC simulator and they are pretty close to ready.

I am also planning a binutils fix that will allow for the correct
utilization of the ARC barrel shifter which some of the ARC variants have. I
also plan to fix C++ support some time soon. And a small build/help support
web page is in my plan too.

The current current state of my toolset is as follows:
-GCC-3.2.3 x86 cross tested on ARC sim actively using
-Binutils-2.13.1 active
-NewLib-1.11.0 active

Still for me TODO: Run the Testsuites.

Richard Kenner was the ARC maintainer but he recently
resigned.  I have had some private emails
"Rich DAddio" <richdaddio AT sandvideo DOT com> about
the ARC.  My understanding is that he has a working toolset
and would be willing to submit patches and act as a
maintainer.

Rich, is that putting too many words in your mouth? :)
