    It's the inliner for Java.

You lost me.  Why isn't Java-specific code in the java/ subdirectory?

    Not at all.  The tree inliner uses language specific tree nodes
    throughout.

I thought the whole point of the inliner language hooks were to make
the inliner language-independent.  If not, then what *are* they for?
