I plan to do that, by reducing them to INDIRECT_REFs (if the operand isn't
already a decl).  Of course, that means that we don't get complex
addressing modes, since I assume combine won't touch asms.

One way to fix this (and the builtins problem) would be to teach various
expanders about formal expression temps: they can look up what expression a
temp corresponds to, and plug it back in as appropriate.

Other ideas?
