I plan to fix this with the next set of patches to the gcc_release script.

In fact, I now changed the URL to
  ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/snapshots/3.3-20030707/
because the directory name was the only place where we used ISO dates
while everywhere else (CVS tags, gcc -v output, even the names of the
individual archives) we ommitted the dashes.

IMnsHO this distinction causes complexity and confusion for users -- and
myself :-/ -- so I'll bite the bullet and clean this up.
