Mainline snapshots

I think this first mainline snapshot should have diffs from the last
single series (3.3 branch) snapshot - and the next 3.3 branch snapshot 
should also have diffs from the previous 3.3 branch snapshot.  (And for 
future release branches, the first snapshot from the branch should have 
diffs from the previous mainline snapshot.)
