Pending patches for PRs 3782 and 8828

Hi,

My approved patches for PRs other/3782 and c/8828 are still pending. 
These non-critical PRs are just noise in the list of high priority
bugs.  The patches should be applied to 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4.  Since I
don't have write access, I can't commit them myself.
