I'm not a gcc developer watching the list for news of Gnat, but I have 
noted that many (usually Linux) users equate a release of GCC with 
slowness.  One recent example was when discussing software performance 
trends and one of the first examples cited for degrading perfomance (in 
terms of speed) was gcc.
