No; actually, I like this.  :-)

However, please make sure that none of the targets supported in 
config.gcc (except possibly the 'obsolete' ones) are set to generate 
DWARF debugging info by default.  I seem to remember that some of them 
were as of last month.  :-/

(I think it is sufficient to switch them all to DWARF-2 without worrying 
about whether it works too much, because DWARF-2 output has been working 
a lot better than DWARF output for a long time.)
